Today, I went to a new deli in town. While waiting in line, I hadn't made up my mind on what to order, so I let the guy behind me go instead. Turns out he was the hundredth customer, and they gave him his lunch for free. FML

That sounds like an episode of Spongebob.

Maybe he needed it more than you did

Why the hell does 34's comment have 8 thumbs up?

Because 8 other people agree that Helenarth loves Nevereverland's trite comment.

If I were you I would be worrying why I have 8 thumbs down.I'm actually thinking about giving you a ninth one.

Your politeness cost you a free delicious sandwich. I applaud your manners but now you see why people make the ones behind them wait

14, I don't think people make others wait because theres a slight chance somewhere that they are going to win a free lunch out of it, but whatever helps you sleep at night.

Ah, oh well. Maybe you'll be their 1000th customer.

Yeah just let the next 899 people go in front of you also.

If you have a roof over your head and food in your fridge (or to-go bag) then life can't be THAT bad. Enjoy the warm fuzzies from giving something to someone else, albeit unknowingly, and go on about your day.

A classic FML. Just be thankful the prize wasn't something more valuable.

Well then OP is being selfish complaining about it.

your lunch couldn't have been more than ten dollars its not that big of a deal but I can see how you might feel cheated

I feel like if I was in this situation I'd just burst out laughing. Stuff like that happens to me all the time. I also think it'd be more awkward for the guy that you let pass; if I were him I'd feel sorta bad.

yeah me too. And stuff like that happens to me all the time too. When I pick a queue in a store, I always end up in the slow one

It's always the shortest one too, I bet, but there's that one old woman who has to take ten years checking out. :P
