hahah come to Minnesota. 16,000 lakes and no eels!!! (not ones that will bite you as you swim, anyway)
Superior and presumably other places in Minnesota do have freshwater American eels. I've never heard of anyone being bitten by them though. Isn't Minnesota great? Then again, there are the occasional muskie attacks. I'm not sure which I would dislike more.
I don't think that's really a "fear"
At least it wasn't a ******* bluebottle! Those ******* hurt!
If you've ever seen River Monsters, Jeremy Wade actually goes to New Zealand on reports of fresh water eels being aggressive towards man and some supposedly have even killed humans. These eels are called New Zealand Longfin Eels. If I remember correctly he put the carcass of a deer in the water and set up cameras. Not too long after, eels started coming along and like crocodiles would bite the flesh and do the "death roll" effect, only more like a power spin. They'd effectively tear off flesh.
I'm hydrophobic. o.o

I refuse to swim in any natural body of water. Been like that since I was a kid. Too many variables - fish, vegetation, rocks, dead things... I'll take a swimming pool any day.
You're lucky it didn't swim up in your urethra. This happened to me years ago. I still feel a burning sensation every time I piss.
