Today, I hired a professional makeup artist to apply my makeup for a wedding. After paying her $500 for the excellent job she does, and getting dressed, I grabbed the invitation to check out the address, and it said the wedding was on December 2. Today is December 3. FML

You spend 500 bucks to look good on the wedding of a (I'm assuming) friend? YDI for trying to out-shine the bride.

I'm sorry but why did you have your makeup done professionally for a wedding that wasn't even yours??

Unless you live in Kuwait and know how their traditions and wedding rituals work you are not allowed to judge... (sorry im replying to you specifically, but this is meant to all of those who are judging the OP and saying she shouldn't try to outshine the bride and that she deserves it for spending that much). For all you know its very normal for people to get their makeup professionally done to attend weddings (i know in my country it is. for weddings we get all dressed up with long dresses, hair and makeup professionally done... it's like a red carpet event. as matter of fact the bride would be offended if u didnt come looking ur best). Another thing the Kuwait Dinar is stronger than the US Dollar, so $500 is not as expensive as one might think! Now, that being said, IMO $500 (or its equivalent in Kuwait Dinar) is alot for just makeup. If it's hair and makeup than that would probably be normal :) One last thing, i call fake because if weddings require that much preparation in OP's country, than she probably double checked the date numerous times for month before hand!

$500 dollars for make-up that you'll wear to a wedding that isn't even yours? Ohh, someone's looking for a boyfriend. :D I know it's your money, and all, but your make-up--which you probably washed off that night--probably cost more than your outfit. Wtf?

U kno I bet that she spent $500 in total on makeup, hair, shoes and her outfit... If she really spent $500 she got ripped off unless she also bought the products. When I worked as a beuty consultant, the charge would either be $40 plus you would have to buy 3 products or (for proms) free but you had to buy $60 worth of products. Mind you, I worked in a retail enviornment, but many of my fellow co-workers free-lanced and they typically would charge $60-$100 or ( for bridal groups) $60 for the bride and $40 for each bridesmaid... The brides makeup is typically more expensive because the makeup artist spends more time on the bride.

Oop rereading the fml and it says she specifically spent $500 on her makeup... She got ripped off...

Then you didn't work for someone extremely high end. If you worked retail then you weren't working with the best of the best, obviously. Or they wouldn't need to be working a retail job to pay the bills. I know quite a few artists that charge that much for a makeover and one day that's what I'll be charging.

YDI for 1) not double checking the date, 2) paying $500 for makeup, 3) especially when you're not the bride. You have no sympathy from me.

the wedding was the day before

ah my computer is all messed up...this was for a different comment, sorry!

As soon as I saw "$500", I hit YDI. Who spends $500 on make-up? You weren't even the bride? Learn to do your own make-up. Even better-don't wear any at all. And yes-I'm a girl. I'm 18 and I don't need make-up. YDI for even THINKING about spending that much on make-up.

hum, that isn't relevant to the fml...

Actually, yes it is. I'm telling the OP that she shouldn't have spent that much money on male up, and that she didn't really need it at all.

No girl needs makeup, wearing makeup is lying pure and simple, i believe Cris Rock puts it excelently. Good for you being confident enough to not wear any, now how exactly is that not related to the fml?

so if you "don't need make-up" then why is your face plastered with makeup in your picture?

You don't need makeup? Great!

Umm.........maybe I'm not getting something, but where does it say that it wasn't her wedding?

KingHumanity 0

Couldn't the invitations have been hers to send out?

first of all, she says "a" wedding and not "my" wedding. Also, I would imagine she would have mentioned if it were her wedding. And I'm pretty sure if she were the one getting married she would know the location.

She said she had to go to "a" wedding, not "my" wedding.

It's called reading comprehension.

And she would know the date....

If you're willing to spend $500 dollars on something but not willing to remember what day it is, you have messed up priorities. YDI

I thought $500 was too much before I noticed the OP was from Kuwait. That explains it

$500 in KWD is a heck of alot. KWD is the highest priced currency in the world fyi at around $3.50 per USD. >_> Know your info before you assume that KWD is cheap.

#80, KWD is Kuwaiti Dinar, the OP used $ as the currency. Therefore, she obviously converted Kuwaiti Dinars to USD.

Bullshit. Why was this one approved. Does ANYBODY believe this?

It duznt mean its a waist...you spent the money, you got the makeup, the nights still young, whats done is done, GO PARTY!!!!!!!!!

Learn how to spell you incompetent idiot.
