Today, I found out that the horrific smell coming from somewhere in my kitchen was a rotting dead mouse in my dishwasher. I have been eating off plates washed in dead-mouse water for the past week. FML

Today, there was a horrible smell in my kitchen. I tried to find the source, but failed and had to leave for the day. That night, my brother informed me that the smell was coming from a dead mouse stuck in our toaster. FML

Today, after emptying the dishwasher, I noticed something in the back by the drain. It looked like a turkey bone. Upon closer inspection, it was a mouse carcass. I have no idea how many loads of dishes have gone through with it in there. FML

Today, I found out that I have mice because my landlady got rid of the community cats that were keeping them outside, and apparently my cats aren't taking care of them. I found out when I turned on my oven and my apartment was filled with an awful smell that turned out to be burning mouse crap. FML

Today, I noticed that my new shampoo had an unfamiliar pink color to it. After some investigation, I found a dead mouse that had apparently cut itself on the bottle pump. I've been washing my hair with mouse blood. FML

Today, I made salmon patties and boiled cabbage. I smelled smoke from my stove burner, but thought I spilled something in the burner. No big deal. Later, this horrible smell started coming from the stove. My husband took the stove apart, only to find that I had fried a mouse as well. FML

Today, I'm going to a cocktail event, except my dress is wrinkled and can't be ironed, so I got my steam cleaner from storage. I saw what looked like mold inside the water container. Turns out a mouse had got into it, drowned and started to decompose. My apartment now smells like death and my dress is still wrinkled. FML

Um. Does everyone use mice and rats interchangeably? Because to me, mice and rats are very different. A rat you would definitely notice in your dishwasher, while a mouse is so small you might not see it. A rat would also smell much more than a dead mouse.

I tried like hell to find the source of the odor in my son's room (age 8 at the time) for two weeks before I hunted it down... Had the room literally ripped apart! Even the dogs wouldn't go in there... We thought something had dies in the walls. Found out he had put a dinner that he didn't like in the heating duct. How he got in there I'll never know, but darn it we eat at the table every night now!

i was eating when i read this... real or not...i ended up losing my cookies... thats just disgusting...how do you not notice something like that? i always look into the dishwasher to make sure utensils didnt fall through... your an idiot... poor mouse... :(
