Show it anywayCongrats. -_- Isn't your life full of wonder and meaning now? OP talk to your teachers. They should be able to let you take the test on another day.
definitely talk to your teachers, and bring the court summons (or whatever documentation you have to prove that you'll not bullshitting) they'll let you take the exam early.
Well, on the bright side, this FML is over on Wednesday. Then you can submit another FML about how you failed college, or, how you became Roscoe's bitch after 30 days of lockup.
lmfao
agreed, 10! OP, seriously, they CAN NOT make you take the exams (whether in grade school or college) that day or penalize you for it so long as you show them the court summons. Go to court and quit whining.
Hes got to testify, I doubt hes there for doing something "bad" then :)
Even if you're in court for something you did, you can be excused from a test.
I agree with number 10
call your instructors. they should let you take the exams another day due to your court appearence. if they won't talk to the dean. sucks that you have to go to court though.
I hope you're not trying to suggest that she be reschedule for jury duty... because she has been called to TESTIFY.
1) You often don't get court summons til much closer to the date 2) many schools do not schedule their exam timetable til the end of semester. The university I went to only published the exam timetable in the last 2 weeks of semester.
39: two things: 1. This isn't for jury duty (so the teacher legally CAN NOT punish them for going and can have them take the exams early or late). 2. That makes sense for jury duty. You get it WAY early and you can reschedule it up to a year later. I just got mine and did that because it would stop me from going to my once a week chem and lab and set it for next summer. You can even do it online (like I did). Jury duty is not a very good excuse.
I think court is a pretty valid excuse for missing an exam. You don't really have a choice.
This is simple. Show the subpoena to your professor. If you haven't been subpoenaed then you're not under a legal obligation to attend - unless you've been previously ordered by the judge to be there. Have one of the lawyers write a quick letter. There are things you can do here. Don't just wallow on FML.
Someones watched some Law and Order...
This is not an FML.. you can obviously get away with not taking the exams, you can't get into any trouble if you need to be in court.
Like others have said, talk to your teachers about it. No reason you should be punished by the education system to fulfill your Civic duties, or vice-versa.
I agree with #3 and #4. You should be able to skip the exams and probably get a retry. :)
You can ask for another date for your exams if you talk to your teachers and show them the court letter. Or talk to the lawyer to write a letter. At least in Portugal the teachers are obliged by national law to give the student another opportunity.
