Today, I found out my grandpa died. As I rushed home crying to comfort my parents, I got pulled over for speeding. The officer told me to cut out the "fake" tears". When I told him my grandpa just died he tacked on another $100 for lying to an officer. Worst. Christmas. Ever. FML
I agree, your life sucks 49 360
You deserved it 3 520

Same thing different taste

so go to appeals court with the death certificate and at least get the 100 taken off

Except... you don't get fined for lying to an officer simply BECAUSE they can't know what's a lie and what isn't.

What's with the "Worst. Christmas. Ever."? Thought you'd bring MLIA cliches over to FML? -.-

Um, I've never heard of MLIA and I do stuff like that sometimes... I mean it is true, that would be the worst christmas ever. They could just be exaggerating it to show that it is indeed one of their worst christmas's ever. That's what I use it for.

piggy!! I smell bacon!!! lol j/k sorry bout your gramps tho :'/ yeah in the cops defense he cant know if youre lying or not but once you prove your case he'll feel plenty guilty bout it dont feel like putting lyrics here. its kinda sad.

I understand the oficer, nobody gives a damn about your grandfather, and you could've joined him if you kept speeding.

Although this was incredibly ******* selfish and your a bitch! I see some of his Ideas. You really shouldnt drive never mind speed. And to do so was kinda selfish? What if you got into a car accident? That would destroy your family.

That'd be retarded..most people get a lawyer to go to court for them for these type of offences. And lawyers aren't that stupid. The cop wouldn't just throw something on there that they know a lawyer will shoot down..great logic..

actually, offenses like this generally result in a cattle call type of court setting, where almost no one wastes the money on a lawyer. cops know this an bank on the fact that you don't know your rights.

A which time i would have gotten another charge.... Assault. When i punched him in the face. and cr4ckb0n3f4n your an ignorant, inbred retard.

Veritas143 0

First: That would be battery. Second: She was speeding and an emotional wreck.. this is a dangerous combonation that could result in a fatal accident.. and if someones child was killed, the parents aren't going to forgive the driver just because her grandpa died..so calling cr4ckb0n3f4n an "imbred retard" for his opinion is out of line.

seriously? cops are such assholes. you can always go to court with your grandfathers death certificate and prove your case in front of a judge. hopefully the smug ****** is there so he can feel like a douchebag for even writing you a ticket to begin with. of course, i am very sorry to hear about your grandfather.

theres no reason the cop should feel bad for writing the ticket, nothing in life, including death/emergency need of medical treatment, gives a person the right to drive irrationally, even if the op's grandfather was important to him/her the op cant let it affect their driving, on the other hand, cops dont have the right to judge people, they need 100% proof to do anything, so unless the cop litterally just saw the op's grandfather alive 10 seconds earlier, he cant call the op a liar, cops should believe any story a person tells them unless theres evidence to contradict their story, the problem is cops think they are judges of justice instead of just enforcers, by all rights cops should have no opinions of their own, but they like to believe their word is law thats why they take the job cause they are power hungry assholes(not all of them there are a few good cops) so while the op should be heavily fined for spreading his pain on the road, the lying charge is b/s and needs to be argued and removed

Times are tough. The cop was just trying to make an extra buck for the City/County/Town/State....if you just mail in the money, he's won. If you show up with a death certificate, dressed conservatively, and politely and respectfully state your case in front of the judge, the cop will just end up looking like an asshole. Problem solved.

no excuse for speedin you retard, he shoulda fined you 1000

Ditto. #27, you'd better hope I don't catch you speeding in my hometown after someone in your family dies.

shut up you and 27 have no souls nor anybody who must care enough to help your deranged minds

Absolutely deserved the speeding fine, so I don't get how the scales can be so far in "your life sucks". YDI. The lying bit will be easily resolved when you send in a copy of the death certificate, and with a little luck they may even dismiss the whole ticket (don't bank on it though - you speed, you deserve to pay).

Make a formal complaint. You'll be able to prove you were not lying. Kick up enough of a fuss and you may get let off the rest of it.
