sweetie coldsore herpes (Herpes Simplex Virus 1) is very different from genital herpes (herpes simplex virus 2). I've never heard of them switching. viruses need a specific cell receptor to be able to infect. which means cold sore herpes can only infect mouth and genital herpes can only infect genitals. I've never hear of herpes complex either. unless you have both and not realize that then FYL and YDI.

I think you're a little confused here. In general, oral herpes is caused by a virus termed HSV-1, genital herpes is caused by HSV-2. Oral herpes can spread to another person's genitals through oral sex; if this happens, it is called 'genital herpes' because it will be the exact same outcome as HSV-2 and it is in the same anatomical location. Doctors wouldn't say 'you have oral herpes on your genitals'- because the definition is by location.
