Today, I corrected someone who spelled "learned" as "learnt" on my favorite forum. Nothing could've prepared me for the torrent of abuse that followed from the non-American members. Now I'm banned for "trolling," and all my 7,000+ posts since 2006 are gone forever. FML

I commented to a few people one here about that (spelt is a grain, not the past tense of spelled) and a moderator deleted them, saying that I was attacking people. The laws of grammar have apparently gone out the window and woe anyone who mentions it.

Honestly, YDI. Google it before you correct it! Better safe than sorry, because the Internet NEVER forgets!

You can always check your grammar ONLINE!

The two are interchangeable. What exactly were you correcting? Not liking one spelling doesn't give you the right to tell other people they're wrong.

"'Trolling'," Not "'trolling,'" Oops sorry for trolling.

Either spelling is correct, the use of one over the other depends on location. You deserved to be banned.

Well, I hope you learnt your lesson.
