Today, my house got broken into for the third time. The nice police officer said that if I didn't want my house to keep being robbed I should, "Fix the place up so it doesn't look like a crummy vacant building." FML

Today, my house was broken into. The cop that came turned out to be a guy I fought over a girl with in high school. He sneered and said that everything appeared to be in order, and that I probably ransacked my own house. FML

Neighborhood watch

Today, I came back home to find that my house had been robbed, one week after my neighbors. I was walking around my neighborhood to see if anything was suspicious, and discovered that my neighbors had put up a sign, reading: "Rob the neighbors, THEY don't have a security system." FML

Today, after having my car been broken into the day before because I didn't lock it, I made sure I locked my doors. When I got off shift and entered the parking lot, I noticed a brick had been thrown through my windshield and a note that said, "Nice Try". FML

Today, two weeks after reporting our car was broken into, the police showed up to our flat. They came to inform us that our car was was broken into. We explained that we knew this and reported it weeks ago. Apparently, it was broken into again, and set on fire this time. FML

Today, I came home to find that my house had been broken into. After assessing the loss, I saw a taunting note on the fridge saying, "Locks work best when the door's SHUT." My housekeeper had apparently left the door wide open. FML

Today, my house was broken into. I'm really poor and don't have a television or nice clothing, so they just dumped my trash all over the house and stole my one loaf of bread that was supposed to last me for the week. FML

The cop has a point, but he was not professional in the way he spoke to the OP. he should have explained the basic points of the broken windows theory. As for fixing the place up if the op probably can't afford a total remodel, and fixing things a little at time on a budget will not help in the short term. Good luck OP

Why are people hating on the policeman he has to come to OPs house three times now calm her down and do an investigation but OP continues to let her house be an invitation to burglars because they are to lazy to fix it up.

Why do you assume the same officer answered the call for all three robberies? It could have been a different cop every time for we know. She only told us what this particular officer did.

Tactless and unprofessional. Maybe you can get a nice big dog. Then again, with the laws you guys have in the US, you'd probably get sued when your dog attacked the person that broke into your house! FYL

Actually, yes this has happened before... And the person breaking in won and the dog had to be put down -.- so sad that's how society works sometimes .-.
