Suspicious behavior

By Anonymous - This FML is from back in 2009 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I found out that driving five miles an hour under the posted speed limit is "suspicious" and cause for a field sobriety test, breathalyzer, having your car searched and being handcuffed on the side of the road. FML

Sounds like the cop doesn't know the law very well (surprise surprise). Any evidence would have been tossed...he's a moron.

@#2: What? There are plenty of reasons to be driving under the speed limit: - it's dark - bad weather - you are unfamiliar with the territory/trying to find a place you've never been - you don't know the speed limit - you're car is impaired

Well, that's definitely not cause for a search.

If the posted speed limit was 15 mile per hour, you deserved it.

Really depends what country you are in as to whether it was an illegal stop or not. But that sucks for you. Unless you were drunk or high, in which case you deserved it. #57 yes they can legally do that in Canada. No idea where you got that idea. That was how random road checks came to be. They could stop him. Require a breathalyzer test. They could only search the car if there was some reason (like he smelled of pot) but besides that the stopping the car is legal.

Yes. Cops are idiots and have waay to much power.

umm why would you drive 5mph under the speed limit in the first place? and you wouldn't have gotten handcuffed if you weren't drunk.... ?

I hate cops. I am constantly faulsly accused, they are power obsessed and controlling

So... were you drunk? Since you were handcuffed, I'm assuming you were drunk.
