Today, I planned a surprise birthday party for my boyfriend. I invited all his friend and made all his favorite food. He was running very late, so I called to ask what was taking so long. His response? He said he was at his house, with the very friends I was standing next to. FML

I'm not sure if he was cheating or not, but I guess that's a possibility. however, he also could be antisocial? or maybe he just doesn't like his gf very much. either way, fyl, op. nobody should go through that. I know you must have spent a chunk of your time just trying to gather everyone and prepare everything. :(

Now we don't KNOW he's cheating. The OP never said so. The only thing we know is that he lied. The 300 character limit screws us again. I'm gonna say FYL for having a lying boyfriend. We don't know for sure if he's a cheating one too. Edit: supposed to reply to #1 but c'est la vie

We may not KNOW that he's cheating, but it's pretty obvious from the situation. Why would any guy lie about being at his buddy's house? He was most def. getting some birthday sex from someone other than his girlfriend. Asshole.

he could be doing drugs, visiting family but doesn't want to say, gaming, or just wants to be away from her. have you not h ad that one friend who always wants to hang out but is very annoying

But when you host a surprise birthday party, you make sure the person comes, so op and the boyfriend must have arranged for him to come over. That doesn't mean he can't want to have a day off, but then he should have informed her that he wasn't going to turn up. Besides, I doubt your girlfriend is 'that annoying friend', if she is, she shouldn't be your girlfriend for long.

Well that was sad. But hey, now all his friends know what a lying dick he is too. Also, 9, he probably WAS cheating, or doing something as awful, since he felt the need to lie about where he was.
