Suspicious behavior

By Anonymous - This FML is from back in 2009 but it's good stuff - United States

Today, I found out that driving five miles an hour under the posted speed limit is "suspicious" and cause for a field sobriety test, breathalyzer, having your car searched and being handcuffed on the side of the road. FML

Sounds like the cop doesn't know the law very well (surprise surprise). Any evidence would have been tossed...he's a moron.

@#2: What? There are plenty of reasons to be driving under the speed limit: - it's dark - bad weather - you are unfamiliar with the territory/trying to find a place you've never been - you don't know the speed limit - you're car is impaired

Yeaaaaah this happened to me too. I was driving with my girlfriend at like...two in the morning at 45 in a 55...cop would NOT listen to anything we said and was convinced that I was abducting her, even though we were holding hands and I made no attempt to get away. Hmm.

You are an idiot if you let the cop do that. He had to ask and you had to say ok. Your fault entirely! This is NOT an FML.

Cops can be such jerks. they get bored and decide to freak out over stupid stuff like that.

#29, i really cant stand people who always say" **** the police" , because they are ignorant. maybe one day a kid of yours will be abducted, and good luck finding him or her without the help of police. if your house ever gets broken into or your shit ever gets stolen, i hope none of them come to help you.

You can refuse a breathalizer and they need a warrant to search your car if needed. Hopefully you got out unscathed, but what a damned waste of time thanks to another of our turds in blue.

OP, its NOT grounds for anything like that. Know your rights! http://www.flexyourrights.org/traffic_stop_scenario stand up to police that take their authority too far!

I had to deal with a huge jerk of a cop once but all the other ones who've pulled me over were really nice. I think it can depend on where you are. The jerk cop was working in a really affluent part of town.

Why would you have been handcuffed unless you failed the test or they found something in the search?! Your fault, learn to drive

Actually, drunk drivers tend to drive slowly and police are told to look for drivers that ARE driving slowly. Also, agreed. Stop driving under the speed limit. ^.^
