Today, I left for a one and a half month trip to Japan with my boyfriend. He promptly broke up with me the first night in the hotel. When asked why he couldn't have waited until the trip was over, he said he didn't want to create "false memories." FML

A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me, and my heart is shattered to pieces. The worst part is we are supposed to go on vacation together in a week, and neither of us is backing out, or giving the other the room, so it looks like we’ll be staying together on vacation for 11 days straight. FML
Today, the guy I have been seeing left town to visit his family for three weeks. A few hours later, he called me from the airport to say he is never coming back. FML
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me for asking to spend time with him after not seeing him very much in three months, because he doesn’t have time for me and is so stressed out he doesn’t have time for fun. Then he decided he should go to Mexico with the people he works and lives with so they could have fun together. FML
Today, my best friend and I came home from Japan. Her boyfriend and I have been having an affair before I left so I decided not to tell him she was coming with me. We just got off the plane and got a bite to eat, he was waiting for me so he could propose, my best friend was standing next to me. FML
Today, my boyfriend told me that he wanted to break up with me but it had to be after our cruise together because he doesn't want to lose out on money. Can't wait for the Bahamas. FML
Today, after I flew 16 hours across the world to see my girlfriend, on the fifth day of the holiday we broke up because she ended up telling me she "can't do distance." After all those hours of flying, we spent the last 3 days in the hotel room mostly crying, and I asked her face to face, "Why did you break me?" She left; I'm broken. FML
Today, I broke up with my boyfriend. I had only been dating him for about a month. Thinking he wouldn't take it very hard, I invited him over so I could tell him in person. Little did I know he was going to start crying on my couch and not leave for 5 hours. FML
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me because I was "angry" at him. I was angry because last night he turned off his phone and left me locked out of the Airbnb that I had paid for. Until 3 am. In a foreign country. FML
Today, my boyfriend broke up with me, sitting in my car, an hour into a four-hour trip. The reason? I haven't been lifting with him at his gym during the COVID-19 pandemic. The kicker? We were headed back after a stay-cation with his mom, because yesterday was my birthday. FML
Today, I flew cross-country to see my girlfriend of three years. Once I got there, she broke up with me. I was supposed to be staying for a month and now I have nowhere to go. FML

Enjoy yourself in Tokyo! It's a whole new world there & it may be better that you are hanging out alone. My boyfriend brought me to Tokyo last month & he regretted having to follow me shopping. LOL Have an adventure!

While he is an absolute dick, I can't help but agree with the whole "not wanting to make false memories" thing. I mean, What he definitely should have done was break up with you BEFORE the trip, but, would you rather go on a trip with him, then have him break up with you, having your memories of Japan no longer enjoyable because he's in every one of them, plus knowing that he was probably faking his enjoyment the whole time, or else have to go through a break-up, but being able to make some real memories of Japan that won't be tainted by him being in them? Like I said, he's still a douche, and should have broken up with you BEFORE the trip, but, I think it's better than him telling you after. Hope you guys can either work out your problems or find separate hotels so you can enjoy your trip separately.

He kinda has a point with his reasoning but he should have done it before you started the trip. I hope there's a way for you to not stay with him in the same room all the time. Try to enjoy the trip without him, distract yourself. Maybe you'll find a new boy =D

It sounds like he wanted to go to Japan, and it sounds like he used you to get there. Make him pay for the hotel room, and just leave to go to a different one. Also, take all the money that belongs to you, and his return ticket. He will grow up quickly. There is no way I would stay with his lying ass.
