Autumn: Leaves and Laughter
When the leaves fall, the laughter rises. Discover autumn stories as crisp as dried leaves!
Today, my fiancée told me she was having a bad day while we were lying in bed. Just as she was about to fall asleep I thought it would be sweet if I sang her a song that her Mom sang to her when she was a child. Instead, I was told to shut the fuck up and that I sucked. FML
Today, at a campfire, I whipped out my guitar to serenade this girl I like with a Nick Drake song. When I was done, she said it was nice, but that my singing voice sounded a bit like the Swedish Chef from the Muppet Show. A couple of people nearby burst out laughing in agreement. FML
Today, my boyfriend wrote a song for me. As he was singing it to me I realized it was actually a breakup song. FML
Today, my boyfriend asked me if we were going to become "that stupid couple that sings cheesy songs to each other." I just spent the past 3 months writing the perfect song that I was planning on singing to him tonight. FML
Today, I was auditioning for a talent show. I asked my girlfriend if I could sing to her before I went. She said sure. Thirty seconds in, she got up and mumbled, "You're only going to embarrass yourself." FML
Today, I wrote my girlfriend a song. She wrote me a 13-page letter on why we should break up. FML
Today, I auditioned for the musical at my school. Before I sang my song, I gave my music to the director. She said "Oh, I love this song!". After I sang it, she told me, "It's okay, I still like the song." FML
Today, I poured my heart out to my girlfriend with a serenade. After I finished, she told me she'd come over to tell me she'd found someone else and wanted to break up. FML
Today, I worked up the courage to confess my feelings to this girl I'm crazy about. I even wrote and recorded a song for her. Instead of listening to it, she gave it to her ex-boyfriend, who responded to my heartfelt words by headbutting me. FML
Today, I tried singing in front of my friend. She said, "That's a hilarious voice! You should use that voice when telling jokes!" FML

It really takes balls for a guy to romantically serenade a girl in a soprano voice. It would be a lot easier without them, though.

It's called vocal range. You should be proud of it and so should she.

I thought your username said Redbox at first ha.

if that's a Cosby show reference, I believe it's "Justine, Justine!" If it's not, then pay no attention to me. I have issues.

Isn't it a "phantom of the opera" reference?

"Yibber yabber goober doober" That's a Cosby show reference.

Probably the "Christine Sixteen" Kiss song

On the bright side, she's gonna remember it as a happy memory? :D

I guess it depends on if he has a good singing voice or if he just accidentally embarrassed himself :p I would laugh if someone serenaded me in an offtune voice, but it's the thought that counts

Maybe op should have payed someone to sing that song he wrote. Fyl op
ElricMustang 23
That's romantic, huh? I'd rather try it myself and do it poorly, because that's worth more to me, and should be for her.
Jiplo 18
I hope she does indeed remember as a happy memory. And OP, don't worry about your soprano voice too much. Keep in mind that Frankie Valli had a very high soprano and sang beautifully. Persevere towards your goals!

Justin Timberlake would applaud not laugh, be proud op

he definitely should! My boyfriend doesn't know anything about singing and I told him to sing and he's a tenor, or "tender" as he likes to put it (lol), its hard to do that so be proud of yourself OP! I know guys who've tried doing falsetto for years and still can't get it.

It's a rare talent but it's marketable if you wanted to make a career with it! There are many male sopranos in musical theatre.

Well, maybe he didn't actually have the vocal range and that's what she was laughing about. Not nice of her though. Definitely an FML moment.

No, there aren't. There are lots of tenors. When there are male sopranos, they are children. In fact, the male voice type that is higher than tenor, countertenor, doesn't even show up in musical theater. Countertenors mostly only show up in opera.

What if OP isn't a guy?

78, I would assume he is since it says on his profile.

I hope you're not a musician.

Being a soprano is valuable.
tvwrestler98 14
I'm a musician and we as musicians will sing to our songs (it's only obvious we do)!

He wouldn't be a soprano. He probably means falsetto. No guy can be higher than alto 2 after puberty. It just doesn't happen.
ElricMustang 23
Then you obviously don't listen to music lol
jazzy_123 20
72, you should really go to an opera. I was in choir in high school and participated in bigger choirs where women were sometimes a bass (they hit the lowest notes with the men) and men were soprano (they hit the high notes with the women). So yes, it IS possible.

Find a girl who appreciates your musical side. :)

did she atleast like the lyrics? that's rude of her. laugh at her cooking
cricketsins 36
If it was meant to be a serious thing then that's just rude. Not even autotune can fix the singing voice that my boyfriend has - yet I would be honored for him to serenade me.

She might have laughed..! But she sure as hell better think that was adorable! Atleast you tried. That calls for guts.

It was a sweet gesture , and she probably laughed out of embarrassment though still appreciating the song. I'm pretty sure she enjoyed it deep down , if just the lyrics
