Quality family time
Today, my deadbeat dad threatened to press charges against me for harassment if I ever contact him again. I've contacted him twice in the last two years, once to tell him he was going to be a grandfather, and once to send him a birthday card from my son. FML

Sorry OP. I would say your best chance is to leave him alone and maybe wait until he comes around. Nothing much you can do there. Hope you two can have a better relationship on the future.

Exactly. If I were OP, I wouldn't even bother to contact him at all. I hate dead beat parents :/

OP can check the (I Tried) box and now forget about him.

I don't mean to be that guy, but I don't think he is someone you ever really want in your son's or your own life. Unless he makes a complete reform, he seems like one of those people that is pointless to have in your life. The only thing he seems to be able to do is cause you pain and trouble. Even if he contacts you, I feel it would be best to keep him out of your life.

The only time he would come around would be to ask for money.

#28 I agree, and not just pointless, but possibly harmful. The grandson's self esteem could really be impacted by a grandfather like that.

Dont even bother, he doesn't want to keep in touch with you

If your dad just became a grandfather within the last 2 years, how did your son choose to make him a card?

The stupidity of your comment is painful to witness...

The same way our pets make cards.

"Merry Christmas, this jumper is from the dog!". That way.

He's not even worth your time. He's clearly not right.

That sucks. I'm so sorry. I have a sister like that.

So sad. It's obvious he wants nothing to do with your life and his grandsons. I'm sorry op, you're better off without him as well as your son. There probably won't be as much heartache if he wasn't there than being there and constantly disappointing you and your son. Good luck op

I think there's a silver lining to this, as it is now explicitly clear that he isn't the kind of guy you'd want to have as your dad, or grandad to your child.

Your "dad" sounds like the exact definition of sperm donor.
