Quality family time

Today, my deadbeat dad threatened to press charges against me for harassment if I ever contact him again. I've contacted him twice in the last two years, once to tell him he was going to be a grandfather, and once to send him a birthday card from my son. FML

you and your son are much better off without him

Sorry OP. I would say your best chance is to leave him alone and maybe wait until he comes around. Nothing much you can do there. Hope you two can have a better relationship on the future.

Sounds to me like he feels really guilty for not having been there for you. Leave him alone and live your life as best you can. Some day he may come around, but that's on him.

Has anyone ever considered that maybe he isn't her father.

oh he'll call you if you won a lot of money and say that he's always loved you

Even if he's family, **** him. You don't need a dickwash like him.

THIS POST IS A LIE. According to the time line this woman's son is less than two years old. No child under 2 understands enough to want to send a birthday card to an estranged grandfather that he has never met!

sounds like my deadbeat dad

You don't deserve a father like that. So don't let him in yours or your sons life.

You did good by trying to include him in your life. As he dies alone, he'll regret many things, in his life.

You don't need him.

Cut your losses, and forget that loser. You have to ask yourself if that's the kind of "person" you really want in your life, and especially now in your son's life. I was also dealt a deadbeat dad by life, and I decided to cut off all contact when I was 16 (12 years ago). He hasn't met my husband or daughter, and he never will, if I have anything to say about it, because he isn't worthy of my family. Given that he's alienated both of his children, I sure hope he's got a good 401k...because he can forget either of us taking care of him. So believe me when I say you'll be fine without him, and truly better off. Be a good parent to your son, and break the cycle. You can do it.
