Mean streets

Today, my car was totaled when a semi passed me and blew his transaxle out of his truck into my car. I travel for work and just got my job. I also just put plates on my car. It’s now triggered my PTSD from another car accident I was injured in. I keep crying from flashbacks. FML

I’ll also point out, my back is in pretty bad condition right now. I went to ER, it seems when I tensed up for impact (little to no notice and my body automatically did that), I tore muscles in my lumbar when it hit. I’m now having to take off work and do therapy since I can’t bend or sit easily, nor lift. I was sore Saturday, and it progressed worse. I’m hoping for a quick recovery, as after 10 years of a back injury, I just got back on my feet with a nice job. A nice job that pays well, in which I’m having to take a week off and don’t get paid for that time (hourly, plus mileage. I was on a work trip when this happened, of all things)

Sue the trucking company for all they're worth.

Might have to. Just got out of the ER (again) to be told I’m not going back to work for another week. Apparently I didn’t know I had a horrible concussion till I was throwing up every hour, severe vertigo and couldn’t eat or drink for 3 days, and being rushed to the hospital requiring intravenous meds to stabilize me. Back home and doing a bit better, but wanna bet it even lit a fire under the insurance company? **** no! I contact lawyers starting tomorrow!

Shouldn’t you be receiving worker’s compensation if it occurred during a work trip? That would certainly be the case here (in Canada).

sadly, i tried to file after losing feeling in my right leg last wednesday. their solution was to fire me and deny claim since i no longer worked for them. now i need a spinal surgery as i have two areas of flattened spinal cord. just hired the most vicious lawyer i could think of.

if the accident occurred while were at work, it’s workers comp in the USA, too. I once fell on a public street while walking from my car to the employee parking garage, after work, and WC paid.

I’m a contractor working for a large company under a very dodgy contracting company. I’m lucky if I can even get a hold of them. I’ve been on medical leave for a week and cannot even get a hold of them. Sadly, truckers insurance company is dragging feet. Can’t even get a rental car.

I figured i’ll update. I lost my home and my wife and I became homeless for a while. I just got a new job and rented a house and am still awaiting back surgery. However lots of PT and i’m doing better albeit with pain down legs and memory and speech issues/stutters. I go to court against them next month. It’s been a saga with their lawyers and company breaking laws. Gonna hit those bastards hard

So I’m OP. Wanted to post an update: I’m being discharged from the hospital after back surgery. It was very successful and i rebuilt the car. Still fighting my POS former employer which has broken countless laws, and between my lawyer and my documentation and care as well as dashcam footage covering it, the case isn’t going well for the ex employer. They didn’t carry work comp insurance like required (55k+ employees too) and to throw shade on them, NEVER work for eTeam Inc. look em up. Total pieces of shit.
