I got this!

Today, my boss quit his job and stopped coming in without warning. Guess who just inherited his tasks and responsibilities without the training or pay associated with his manager role. I was hired last year as a junior system admin. FML

YDI for not learning what your boss does. Don't you have any ambition?

Stop complaining and being an idiot. Learn the job and look ahead to your future. Most people would love to be in your position.

as another systems admin I sympathise, I've had 5yrs to adjust/improve and it's not something you can just pick up at the drop of a hat. op's boss may have mad SQL skills whereas op is still server 2008/desktops only, etc fyl.. but yeh this is an opportunity to climb the ladder, put the work in!

Totally. I studied RBX for 3 years before I felt comfortable VFing my TGH. Every time the QWV goes down, my CXM totally HLs my UPW! It's so annoying.

I have no idea whatsoever. I'm a doctor, Jim, not a tech guy. I guess I could tell you that my pt's CV was RRR with no M/R/G and his abd was S/NT/ND with +BS and no R/G, but that would make just as little sense, even though that's correct. Freaking Mondays.

OMG WTF, y'all GTFO or STFU. Also, if you dont get this, well EIEIO to you too!

doesn't that mean ur getting more money? WTF u FML-ing about? ppl these days ...

One job I held once, I was hired as entry level data entry, and 4 months into the job, the owner of the company fired everyone who was in my chain of command(shipping manager, floor supervisor, etc) and I was chosen to become the new shipping manager when I had never done anything related to his job. After 3 months of doing it, I got called to the owners office and was told that I had been doing my former boss's job, I was entitled to his pay level, his perks, and his schedule. I ended up getting a $10/hr raise(retro active to the day of the promotion going from $10.50/hr to $21.00/hr), went from working 6am-5pm to 8am-5pm with hour lunch, a company car, company credit card and within 6 months of that, getting promoted from shipping manager to Director of Sales(instead of shipping the stuff out, I was now in charge of handling customers and accepting orders) with yet another raise. Sadly, the business folded in 2005, but what started out as bad for me really, turned out great, because of it, I landed another job doing basically the same, thanks to someone being fired. Think of this as a trial run, if you do great at it, it could lead to better opportunities in the future. Sure it may suck now, being thrust into a position you know nothing about, but int he long term, it could pay dividends

You're complaining because you became the new boss ? Ask for demotion please, that's not fair.

it could be worse op. you could be unemployed.

Step up to the plate and try and perform. And if you prove yourself capable, you can demand proper compensation. This is an opportunity.

Be happy that your boss quit. Now your in charge of taking over his role and will possibly get his pay rate. Hell id be happy if I were you. I dont see what the issue is, just be happy you get to take over his role and do the best you can in w.e. It is your doing. Im pretty sure they will find someome else to come in and train you
