I got this!

Today, my boss quit his job and stopped coming in without warning. Guess who just inherited his tasks and responsibilities without the training or pay associated with his manager role. I was hired last year as a junior system admin. FML

Fyl. But at least a promotions in your future!

Acquire the skills, then if the title, formal promotion, and pay aren't forthcoming from your current employer, put the new skills on your resume and look for another job with pay more commensurate with the job duties.

Not all management jobs are that great. I had a friend who would make beaucoup money because he was paid overtime. The company promoted him. As a salaried worker, he doesn't get paid overtime, so even with his manager raise, he makes less money. I think they did this on purpose.

With the crap economy, businesses are piling multiple jobs on employees with little to no extra pay. They do this to save money and know most people would put up with the bs vs quitting and looking for another job in this economy. All Bosses are assholes.

why r u complaining this is a great opputrinery to get some money

Stand up for yourself. If the duties aren't in your job description and it's a lot more responsibility, you have grounds to renegotiate your contract.

Well I would go to your management and ask them if them giving you all your former boss duties and work is there way of seeing if you can do the job or is it just they need someone to do his duties until they bring in his replacement. If your just going to be the filler guy I would tell them you want to be paid his wage or at l;east overtime or you won't do it. If it's there way of seeing if you can handle is job and get promoted then hang in there you could be in for a promotion if you work hard enough

Sysadmin =/= manager. Nothing farther away in terms of duties. Learn about jobs people

You also inherited a much higher wage. Stop bitching.

Clearly the op said that he wasn't getting the manager's pay so he has every right to be 'bitching'.
