Maybe I’m mean, but I agree with you. First of all, if your kids are teenagers, they are more than capable of helping take care of an animal. If they’re not willing to do the work, they don’t deserve to have a pet. Pets are a privilege, not a toy. They need to learn that their actions, which includes being inactive, have consequences. Second of all, you’re referring to the dog as an “it”, so that right there tells me you truly don’t want a dog. If the kids aren’t putting in the effort, and you don’t want them to begin with, you did the right thing for the dog.
Sounds like you gave away the dog without warning. Hail Passive-Aggressive Satan!
massive animal lover here, I agree with you. the dog wasn't getting the attention it deserved so you gave it to someone who could look after it. I would also assume they teens agreed to look after it and take care of all its needs, then stopped. you did the right thing. In fact, I'd refuse to get another pet and tell them if they want one, they can wait till they've moved out. you did right by that puppy.

I’m sick of teenagers complaining about how cruel their parents are when they pull **** like this and act like the parent who did this is satan. Frankly they shouldn’t be allowed to have anymore pets while they live under your roof
