Dementia

Today, just like every day for the past two weeks, my mother has told me just how much she doesn't want me to move out. I, once again, have had to remind her that she isn't the one I'm trying to get away from. I'm not a fan of being repeatedly smacked with a coffee mug by my 78-year-old grandma. FML

I always thought I was the only one who had issues with her grandmother! I'm sorry you have to go through that OP. Trust me, my grandmother had a tendency to say somewhat verbally abusive things towards me when she was around. It really ruined our relationship but nearing the end we made our peace. My best advice is to definitely move out as soon as possible if talking to her hasn't worked.

she probably doesn't want to be left at home alone in a vulnerable situation and probably needs the help with your grandma. perhaps investigate outside carers to come in and hello or provide respite?

You'll be a mug if you didn't get away!

I really hope it's not one of those novelty giant sized coffee cups...

Wow, you had a problem with her grandma too! This must be one badass old lady.

Easy solution to all of your problems. Out granny in a retirement home, it'll be cheaper than moving out and believe it or not she'll probably be happier too.

Your grandmother didn't want to be a statistic and instead tried to do the mugging herself. Unfortunately, that's not how this works. That's not how any of this works.

That was going good until the last sentence.

I kinda want a follow up on this. Is there any reason she keeps smacking you with coffee mugs? Are you the only person she smacks with coffee mugs? Is she hitting really hard or just kind of bumping you?
