I'm pretty sure he can't do that. As soon as someone higher up than him hears about it, his case is toast and you'd be fine
I feel bad for people who have to work at retail places.
did you sign the write up in agreement with him? did you write a rebuttal? you should have refused to sign it and asked to speak to your manager's boss.
You should have made a fuss too see if you would've gotten fired. Then you could sue for wrongful termination. I mean, "I was terminated because I came into the store in my off time and wasn't wearing my employee outfit" is a very valid wrongful termination.
They joys of retail. Sorry OP, but your manager is an ass.
You should get him written up for being rude to a customer being yourself. Off the clock you're a customer
Definitely reach out to hr if you can't reason with the guy. Then write to corporate as a customer and make sure to call his name out in your letter for being extremely rude to a customer.
Go to HR, he can't write you up for something you did off job time, or not wearing uniform when it isn't your shift.

Some people need a brick to the face for how uptight they are. Sheesh. Go to HR. That's bogus.
Wow, that's bullshit. I wouldn't even sign that write up. Sorry you have such an ass of a boss.
