Today, I got an email from a local company looking to have a website made. I looked over their request and provided them with a reasonable offer. I got an email back stating that they would like to pay me with liquor instead of money. FML

Today, after I took up a job to design a website for a company, I had everything done… but they went with someone else. Their boss's nephew made a site that looks like it was pulled from late '90s GeoCities site, and is full of spelling errors and broken links. They paid him $5000 for this. FML

Today, my bosses were boasting about their work-funded retreat, including the $1,800 bottle of wine the company paid for. This would be fine if they hadn't just told me there are no funds to pay me for the work they've got me doing. We are also the biggest company in our industry. FML

Today, I finally finished a drawing that someone had asked and said they would pay me for. I worked on it for multiple hours and was very proud of it. When it came to discussing payment, I asked what his best offer was. A pack of cigarettes. FML

Today, on my way to work I stopped at a winery and spent around $120 on 2 bottles of wine for my boss, since it was his birthday. When I gave him the gift, in exchange he let me know I am being laid off - his consolation was "if you can afford this wine I'm sure you'll be OK". FML

Ya, this obviously wasn't a real offer. Just someone who was trying to pull a practical joke or something. I don't think this should really be on Fmylife.com. It would be sort of like, "Today, a pop-up told me I won a million dollars. I didn't. MLIA."

Definitely not a FML. If it's good liquor (scotch, wine, quality beer, whatever) and you won't be out a lot of money, then go for it. However, if it's just cheap third-rate crap (anything by Miller, Budweiser, or Coors) then reject the offer. Not too complicated.

If you don't want to take the job, foreward the offer to me. Just warn the client that i indend to be using the "down payment" while i work on the project.
