Today, I cut my finger with a knife while cooking. I work in a hospital and have to use hand disinfectant at least every twenty minutes. It hurts badly. I have to work for eight hours. FML

Today, I cut my finger at work while chopping some vegetables. I grabbed the nearest rag I could to stop the bleeding and put it on the cut. I didn't know the rag had just been used to clean up a lemon juice spill. FML
Today, while I was at work in a machine shop, I cut myself really bad. Not with any of the sharp tools, drills, or metals I work with. Just the soap dispenser. FML
Today, I managed to cut myself twice with a Swiss army knife. Stabbed in one hand and sliced a finger on the other. Good to know it's super sharp. FML
Today, I was washing the dishes when I gave myself a nasty gash on my leg from the open dishwasher door. After five minutes of cleaning up the blood and wrapping it up, I came back to finish the job only to drop a plate and send broken shards into my foot. FML
Today, I received roughly 50 paper cuts while I was at work. I didn't realize this until after I applied hand sanitizer. FML
Today, I cut my hand on nothing while at work. It bled so much, I began to feel woozy, and everyone kept brushing me off when I asked where the first aid kits were. FML
Today, I was cleaning a pan. I turned the water on, and it was super hot. My reaction was to slam my hand down. On a knife. So, not only do I have a burned hand, but there's also a huge cut on it from the knife. FML
Today, I was chopping veggies for dinner and accidentally sliced through my thumbnail and into my finger. I wrapped it and finished cooking, despite being in considerable pain. My husband patted my shoulder and said sympathetically, "Don’t worry about the dishes babe. You can just do them tomorrow.” FML
Today, I cut my leg deeply at the beginning of my work shift. I wrapped it up with packing tape and a thankfully sterile paper towel, and had to work 6 more hours before I could leave. I made 110 dollars at work, only to spend 120 on stitches. FML
Today, during my second shift back at work after missing four weeks for knee surgery, I stabbed myself in the hand and now need three weeks off for that surgery. Just as I'm up for a promotion. FML

This whole thread of responses is painful to read. You can't just "steal" the pain killers nor do they really stop the sting, avoiding cleaning the cut means your hands aren't getting cleaned in that area, and you are supposed to still sanitize after taking the gloves off. All I can say is soap and water as often as possible.

You're not allowed to wear bandaids if you work in a hospital. It has to be the liquid bandaids or gloves. If you choose gloves then you need to put on new ones for every room.

You can't wear the band aid at the hospital, it's not sterile and will come off after a few washes. I don't know what you call it over there but in Aus I use 'opsite', it'll still come off after about 10 washes but it's a clear second skin that won't harbour micro-organisms.

You don't use the same pair of gloves your whole shift; you throw them away and get new ones between each patient. You're also supposed to wash your hands or at least use antibacterial disinfectant between patients.

You know surgeons can have nurses to help them out, and soap does burn when you get it in a cut sometimes, either way she still has to sanitize her HANDS not her gloves. You wouldn't want a nurse to have dirty hands under sanitized gloves touching you, and the equipment while you were in a hospital now would you?

ejones - Everyone who comes into contact with any patient in the hospital is supposed to wear gloves AND use either soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitiser before and after touching the patient. It makes no difference if that person is a nurse, doctor, or custodian.
