Today, I dropped my phone in the wet snow. I read that putting it in rice helps to get the water out. Three pieces of rice are now frozen into the power port, and I can't get the charger in. FML

Today, I dropped my phone in water, and my friends told me to put it in rice to draw out the water. They put my phone in riceroni. My phone now smells like chicken and has rice seasoning stuck all over it. Needless to say it still doesn't work. FML
Today, I put my phone in the fridge to cool it down. Now it's cold, but it won't turn on. FML
Today, my car got stuck in a foot of snow. I tried desperately digging around my wheels to see if it would help. I was finally able to get out 10 minutes later only to realize that I had dropped my phone in the snow while I was digging and had run over it. FML
Today, after dropping my phone in the toilet, I left it dismantled outside in my backyard to dry hoping it could be saved. I forgot about the phone as well as the sprinklers that were scheduled to go off. FML
Today, I managed to wash my phone with my laundry. I didn’t realize it was in my jeans until I heard a thudding noise. After rescuing it from the depths of soggy clothes, I tried the rice trick to dry it out. A few hours later, my cat thought it was a new litter tray and promptly pissed in the rice, then spread it all over the counter. FML
Today, I was texting while making dinner. I went to pour the noodles into the boiling water and I dropped my phone in. Not thinking, I went to retrieve it from the water. I now have a completely useless phone and a useless hand. FML
Today, I learned the reason they say don't keep your phone in high humidity places. I left my phone on the counter when I went to take a shower. It now won't turn on due to water damage and the warranty doesn't cover it. FML
Today, I woke up to find my cat had knocked my phone into the toilet. As I fished it out, soaking wet, I thought, "Well, at least it's water-resistant." Turns out, my phone wasn't. FML
Today, my phone died. I plugged it in to charge and then went out to run some errands. When I returned, my phone was no where to be found, and our shovel was on the floor, muddy and wet. I then discovered my 6-year old son had buried my "dead" 200$ palmpilot because he had felt sorry for me. FML
Today, I was in my hot tub with my brand new phone. I set it down and when I grabbed my towel I knocked it into the water. I quickly snatched it up and dried it off with the towel, and surprisingly only one button stopped working. It was the unlock button, so now I have a perfectly good phone that I can't use. FML

Just leave it alone for now and go back to it when the rice defrosted. Get a tooth pick and try to get it out of there gently and if that doesn't work go to your provider and hopefully they can be of some use. Good luck OP :)

also try taking out the battery and sim card if you can. I've heard blow drying the phone can help too but sometimes it's lost cause.

Do NOT blow dry it unless you have the heat setting on your blow dryer turned to OFF - nothing will kill an electronic device like heat will.

I think the best thing to do is just go to a phone store and have them get the rice out for you.

I had a similar rice problem when getting water out of my iPod after dropping it in the toilet. First, let it thaw. Then, wait a good 24 hours with the phone in the bag of rice, changing the rice if necessary. At this point, if the rice has done it's duty, your phone should turn on. Lastly, carefully use tweezers to remove any rice stuck in the charger or headphone jack. I had about ten pieces in my iPod. It was worrisome at first, but the right tweezers did the trick. @26 No need to turn the heat off. most electronics have their failsafe temp around 70C. Most off the shelf hair dryers can't get close to that.

I have this feeling the op has only done it for 10 minutes. I've always read du the outside, put in a bag of rice (probably a 1lb size bag), leave somewhere fairly warm (airing cupboard if it doesn't get too hot) and forget it for 24 hours. Hopefully op reads all this and his phone survives!

The reason why you mustn't heat devices is not because of the component heat threshold. It's because it can cause reflowing of the solder on the board, which is quite likely to cause short circuits.

I've dropped my phone numerous times in snow and it would not be cold enough to freeze ice. my conclusion is that OP stuck it in rice and pulled it out which is completely pointless I would leave a phone atleast two days.
