Today, the day before I was supposed to go back to work after I got sick, ended up in the hospital, and primary doctor put me on medical leave, I got fired. FML

Today, I was supposed to start my new job. I had forgotten I had a doctor's appointment, so I called work early and told them I wouldn't be able to start until tomorrow. My boss then terminated my employment. I got fired before I even started. FML

Today, I was fired from the restaurant I work at because I missed my shift. I missed it because I was in the hospital for food poisoning from the meal I ate at work last night. FML

California has specific laws to protect workers who get sick or injured. There are exceptions, but you need to find out how the law applies to you and your situation.

You might be screwed because you got injured before you started working at the place, but you could try and fight it

If you were in FMLA from the job that is something that is meant to protect your job from something like this. I encourage getting in touch with your HR department.
