Have you considered the possibility that they were just joking around and not being serious? He was gaming with childhood friends, I’d say them just joking around is a pretty high possibility.

look, ladies, we should really start abolishing the idea of "love at first sight". that shit is usually just up to our genitals anyway (male or female) and rarely works out. some relationships form over time. Entrapment, if you haven't seen the movie, is just a bunch of kids putting their single parents together to have them fall in love (I misremember the plot probably).
