Today, wanting to be on time for my first job interview, I woke up at the crack of dawn and walked almost an hour through a thunderstorm. When I arrived, I was told that the manager wasn't in today, because of the bad weather. FML

there's no bus? subway? train? taxi? couldn't call first? they couldn't call you? not to mention the manager couldn't find a mode of transportation because of the rain? "wet" the heck is up with that?

And that's why you always call to confirm, especially when it's an hour walk. Lesson learned, I hope.

Totally. Hopefully your potential boss will appreciate your initiative.

Look on the bright side, at least you got some exercise!

It's better than missing the job interview altogether.

12 has a point- This may impress your potential future employer because it shows commitment. Props to you, OP, and good luck getting that job!

Ur a douche for calling someone else one

Lol I like your profile picture...I just laughed for like 10 minutes :)

24- and you're a douche for being a hypocrite and calling someone a douche for calling someone else a douche.

24, what does that say about you?

24- You are calling yourself a douche you dumbass

36- You're a jackass for calling him a douche, for calling him a douche, for calling him a douche. C-C-C-Combo Breaker!

15- what bright side? It was raining...

Why would you walk in the rain before an interview?

That was such a stupid comment.

18- On the contrary, I think it covered everything.

At least you can show up next time, completely dry! (Hopefully)

Well they were going to a job interview so perhaps they didn't have money for transportation

Never work for a company where the interviewer doesn't turn up. Been there, done that. They think they are better than everyone else and will treat you like shit for as long as you work there!

Kay, you're in Canada dude, you live in every type of weather. Suck it up and go to work! I've shown up to work when there's been feet of snow! And I bus/walk too! Good job for showing initiative!

I agree. What kinda boss doesnt show up for work because its raining? Unless you are IN hurricane downpours, go to work >.< lazy people.

It's usually up to the interviewer to call and cancel because of bad weather. But walking an hour through rain dressed in interview clothes is stupid. Could've asked a friend or someone to drop you off or cab it.

Haha. You're just so punny. Laughing hysterically. -_-

22- *Punny (as in intended pun)

no point in doing that because even if he's there you'd be dripping wet during the interview

He might've brought dry clothes with him.

4- Ever heard of raincoat/umbrella/rainshoes etc etc?

Besides, walking through a thunderstorm might be interpreted correctly as showing dedication, a trait that the company involved apparently is in need of.

And that's why you always call to confirm, especially when it's an hour walk. Lesson learned, I hope.

Or when you are there explain to the secretary (you know the person with the real power and gets things done) , you just walked an hour and is there anyway you could gave a phone interview right now.

But if you call to confirm, it might look like you forgot the time of the interview.

No, it will make you look prepared and conscientious.

71- You're not calling to ask for the interview time, you're calling to confirm that the interviewer will indeed be present at said predetermined time.

he should not have to call they should have called him if it was raining so bad the manager didn't come in. it's the managers fault not the OP

What a jerk. He could've called you and told you he wouldn't be able to make it.

They would be lucky to have such a dedicated employee, kudos to OP

You did good. I hope you get the job. You would make an excellent employee. Best of luck to you!

He could've called you. I think you would've made a good employee, very reliable.

At least they didn't say someone else got the job!!!
