Today, my research partner emails me 2 hours before our deadline saying that she can't complete her half of our 20 page report because when she woke up this morning she couldn't see. How did she write the email? FML

I agree with the other poster, fwd it to your professor. I laughed, though. She obviously can't think enough to help with the report... since, you know, she's blind and writing an email.

Ok, I can totally relate to you because I'm in college... it sucks, and I'm sorry you were the only one doing the work... However, on something as major as a 20 page report, there should have been at least SOME kind of project management put into this... did you not make a schedule? For future projects, try to have a couple milestones set, and to have the entire thing finished by a date 1 week before the actual due date... that way, "emergencies" like this don't come up. Forward it to your professor, but it still doesn't make up for the lack of group effort.

I've been stuff with crappy partners before and my teacher was not understanding... (on a side note this was years ago and he is now suspended) My partner was supposed to come up with a couple pages of research and the structure that the project was to be put on. It was crappily made and the reseacher did not pertain to our subject. I stayed up so late doing the whole thing by myself and I told my teacher this because she did NOT deserve the grade I got. He did nothing. Gave us both the same grade. F you, Mr. Wilson, they should have fired you.

some people with MS (google multiple sclerosis) have on-and-off blindness. They get friends to help them or they use voice recognition software. Don't be so quick to judge.

to everyone who thinks OP deserves it. 1. it is not OP's job to be checking up on the partner. 2. what causes you to randomly not see? 3. if she manages to find her way to a computer she still had to open up the email and click compose. 4. if someone else wrote it don't you think they would say "hi, this is ______ and ______ can't see for some random ass reason." OP I'm sorry and just get your side of the credit.

I completely agree with you on all points. Moreso, if it were someone else, couldn't they just use their own e-mail and state the same thing on behalf of them? The OP is in now way to blame for this. If you are in college, you were obviously responsible enough in high school to do your homework and get accepted into a university.
