My dad said that to me multiple times. I know how you feel OP.
When my mum was young, her mother always said "I may have to love you, but I don't have to like you." She was, and still is, quite a cold woman.
Even if I can understand that some "parents" feel that way, why would someone say something so hurtful to their child? That's what I would ask my mum: What's the point ?
