Today, my mom and dad played rock, paper, scissors over who gets to spend the night with me in the hospital tonight while I have surgery. FML

Now, one clarification: winner had to stay or go?

Gets to or has to?

If it's "gets to" you should be happy because they both want to stay. If it's "has to" you should be upset because neither wants to stay.

If that happened to me I would ask then to both leave and not bother turning up in the evening. If they act like children then teach them like children, you've just had bloody surgery and your parents don't even want to sit with you in the evening? That's shameful, they should be bloody embarrassed by themselves.

It's not that they didn't want to sit with them after, it's that they didn't want to stay OVERNIGHT, which usually involves sleeping in a chair. If you sleep at all.

Dad lost, so he had to stay. Mom went home . My parents are seperated, and my mom has 3 other kids that needed to be home with. I'm doing well thank you everyone.

Well who won?xx

Ditto, except they did it for who was going to drive me to the hospital while my appendix was about to burst

cool parents

Tell them both to **** off. You don't need that stress in your life right now.

Yup. FYL

This is how I'm seeing this: you're parents are confident enough that the surgery is going to go well that they would rather stay at home and sleep. You know, in their own bed and not a chair or a hospital bed.
