Today, it was my boyfriend's grandfather's funeral and visitation. These things make me nervous, and not thinking, I made comments that included the words "killing", "dying", and "death". I'm a rubbish support system. FML

Why does she deserve it? I get nervous at funerals as well mainly because I'm sad... The day my great gramma died (who lived with us) I wouldn't go home even after they removed her. My family thought I was an unsupportive selfish bitch, but people cope with things in different ways

How hard is it to just say, "I'm sorry for your loss."? With your boyfriend, just say you'll be there whenever he needs you. It's simple common sense and tact.

Everybody gets nervous at these things! Nobody really knows what to say! Next time, just say I'm sorry for your loss, he'll be missed! Then only speak if spoken to, that way, you don't put your foot in your mouth! I stay as quiet as possible at funerals! I'm always afraid I'll say the wrong thing! A huge pet peeve of mine? People that say he/she looks really good! They're dead, they don't look good!
