Today, I was responsible for taking care of Hoppers, the rabbit belonging to my sons 3rd grade class. Tomorrow my son returns Hoppers so the next student can care for him. That won't be happening because Hoppers hopped out my 5th story window. FML

Today, after I warned my son repeatedly that if he wanted a rabbit he had to clean and feed it, I checked on it. It wasn’t just dead, it was dead and rotting in a pool of its own pee and faeces. I yelled at him, but he just shrugged and told me rabbits are boring and he forgot it was even there. FML

Today, my sister brought her class hamster home from school. Somehow it escaped from its cage, and ran into my room. My boyfriend, thinking it was a mouse, stomped on it. I'm stuck cleaning hamster guts from my carpet, and have to explain to a kindergarten class what happened to their pet. FML

Today, I finally decided to get my five-year-old son a rabbit, so I explained to him how to take care of it. When I'd finished listing all the things he'd have to do, he replied, "That's too complicated... Couldn't we just eat it instead?" FML

Today, I was on my back patio talking with my husband. It got dark outside, and I saw something shuffling in the back yard. I freaked out so bad that I went to run inside, only to fly face-first into the screen door. Turns out the shuffling was a baby rabbit. FML

Today, I drove home on my birthday, and my mom said she'd meet me there. I was a little surprised to get home and find she wasn't there, but even more shocked to see my rabbit run over in my driveway. Turns out he'd gotten loose and my mom had run him over, panicked, and left. FML

Today, I saw my four-year-old son running around outside, and copying everything our dog was doing. I thought it was cute, so I went to grab the camera. When I went back outside, I saw my dog eating a dead rabbit, and my son doing the same. FML

My parents tried to replace our pets without our noticing. We did. You have to tell your son. And probably his class. And then buy another bunny.

Damn, that sucks. I had a friend one time and he was an asshole to his guinea pig. Well, one day it decided to gouge its eyes out and jump off the top of his cage to kill himself. XD Poor piggy, and Hoppers. :(

I had a similar experience when I was in 3rd grade...our class had a pet parakeet and one weekend I got to take him home. However, the top of the cage was broken and the teacher hadn't gotten around to properly fixing it, so when I was carrying it back to the classroom, the roof came off and the bird got away. It sat in a tree for a while so my teacher's dad came to try and get it out of the tree but he was unsuccessful :( Not quite as tragic as yours, but I know what it's like nevertheless!
