#7 that comment is stupid. What if that one thing reveals a horrible personality flaw, motivation, opinion or past action. I would think revealing that hes an ex member of kkk would be a turn off

You refuted his one example, but his point still stands. Fine, what if you found out that he's a current member of the KKK? (As far as it being a turn off, though; I don't think you should be turned on by your father in law in the first place...)

I wouldn't take that comment personally, he probably just said that because he didn't want to get emotional and feel awkward or he was probably just joking.

Some people have trouble dealing with strong emotion, or put on a tough face by cursing. I'm sure he's honored.
