Today, I had organised to go for an all day fishing trip, but had forgotten to book a day off. I called my boss and told him that I had to stay with my mum in hospital after a car crash that she had last night. He called me a liar and fired me. Turns out my mum is having an affair with my boss. FML

Today, I was making the daily commute to work when suddenly my mother calls me, crying that there's been a death in the family, then abruptly hangs up. I speed home, to find my mother holding the tiny corpse of a fish that she got 2 weeks ago. I got fired for being late to work. FML

Today, my sister called me at work and told me our elderly mom had passed away. I dropped everything and rushed home, to find out she was fine, and that my sister was just pranking me. When I explained this to my boss, he accused me of lying to get out of work, and I was fired. FML

Today, I was driving to work and I got a text from my girlfriend. She said she was breaking up with me. I was a little heartbroken, but I had to get on with my day. I got to work and my boss fired me. Turns out, my boss and girlfriend have been having an affair and she told him to fire me. FML

His mom isn't gonna help after finding out what excuse he used to get a day off! Jeez. An affair is an affair. Some people are overlooking that and focusing on the lie. F the op's life. Everyone has lied for a day off. Don't act righteous. It's unfortunate the op sucks at it.

Why didn't you just say you were sick?! Why on earth did you say your mum had had a car crash?! It's not even as if you had to come up with an answer quickly, you had time to plan a good excuse before you phoned!

AAAAHH!!! Clandestine affairs! Scandalous! I wouldn't lie to my boss like that, BUT, that would be a terrible way to find out a secret like that about your mom.
