Today, I had my first real break from work in ages, so I decided to go hiking. Less than 20 minutes in, I tumbled a couple hundred feet down a steep hill, broke my leg and several toes, and lay there in agony for an eternity before I was finally rescued. FML

Ouch sorry OP, hope you heal up nice and quick. Nothing but a FYL would suffice here.

Oh no! I have to give you credit for wanting to go on a hike on your free day. Hopefully when you get better you can try again with walking sticks to help support you.

Now you get even more time off work!

Well, now you'll have an even bigger break from work now!

i'm pretty sure OP would rather be at work than be painfully injured. Being off of work is great, but doing it while you might not be able to walk or move ******* blows

Literally the first rule of hiking is don't go alone. You didn't deserve to break anything but you kinda had the late rescue coming to you.

People hike alone all the time... It's a great experience. Just tell someone where you are and exactly when to get worried if they don't hear from you.

I guess relaxing at home and watching tv doesn't sound so bad now does it?

You couldn't just be lazy and watch Netflix all day like the rest of us? Speedy recovery and best of luck OP.

YDI for going alone, OP. Never go hiking alone. Carnivorous predators are a thing...thank God you're alive though!!

First real ...break... Heh. Bring on the dislikes.

Came here to say exactly that!

Atleast you didn't have to amputate your arm and walk through a desert

Well, you'll have more time off.

Sometimes I wonder why stories even get published on this site. This is not one of those cases. This is a true fml. I'm sorry to hear that you went through that, I hope you'll make a full recovery.
