Today, I got fired from my position as a financial investor for giving a client the exact investment he asked for, even though the investment was out of my mandate, and I had gone to my direct manager to authorize the investment. My manager was promoted. FML

I'm so confused. If your superior stepped in to make the deal happen, how is it not their responsibility? I'm not saying I disbelieve you, just that it's a nonsensical situation.
In case you did not know: lawyers will do a free brief consultation to help you figure out if going to court would be a good idea. Some will work free if thet believe in the case, in exchange for a percentage of whatever you win, so it is possible you can take this to court even if you are broke. At least go chat with a few lawyers and see what your options are. Because this seems like an unfair dismissal.
