Today, I got denied a job. They told me I was unreliable because I didn't show up for my third interview. This is the same interview they called and cancelled this morning. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Wait here
Today, I showed up on time for a job interview. After waiting for about three hours, I was informed that the manager had "better things to do" than interview me. FML
Today, I had a job interview. I got there as quick as I could, having to travel two hours into a city I'd never been to. When I arrived, they told me I was turned down for being too late. They'd rescheduled the interview an hour earlier and I wasn't notified of the change. FML
Canceled
Today, I got a call from the only company that asked me to come in for an interview of the many applications I submitted. I answered it even though I was at my current job. My boss heard and chewed me out. The call was to cancel the interview since the position was filled. FML
Today, my hours got cut because I couldn't make it into work when they called me in. Why couldn't I make it in? I was in an interview for a better job. I didn't get the job. FML
Today, I got a missed call from a lady at an employment agency asking why I hadn't turned up to an information session for a potential job. Yesterday, the same lady told me the job position was canceled. FML
Get back on the horse
Today, I found out that I didn't get a job I really wanted, despite doing well on third round interviews (3 hours with 6 people), and having a good connection with the person I would've reported to. Now I'm upset and dropping the ball on emailing interviewers for the other good leads I have. FML
Today, I got fired after three days at my new job. They told me it was because of downsizing. They were still interviewing people and had a help wanted sign in the window. FML
Close but no cigar
Today, after having tried for months to get a promotion at work, I finally had an interview for a higher position. Everything went great, and I was told I would get a call next week for my second interview. I went back to my desk, only to get an email stating they're canceling the position. FML
Motivation
Today, I had a job interview today after being unemployed for months. I left early but a stranger's giant SUV had me blocked in for over two hours. I called to explain the situation in the hope that I would be given another interview slot later in the week. I was told I clearly didn’t want the job. FML
Today, I was told not to show up for work, after I showed up for work. FML

They obviously wanted to see how committed you are to the job. That was a test, and you failed.

It was a dumb test. Or it was a test of how much of a sap the potential employee was. Dodged a missile there, OP.

Ok now you're just trying to suck up to docbastard.

I never suck up. I do occasionally turn into my primal slime form, however, and proceed to ooze over.

Naw I thumbed this down because I read the same comment earlier, then realised it was from a threadjacker...I feel dirty.

You might consider bringing that up to them.

Prostitution it is...

Perhaps it was the competition that called you, trying to secure the job for themselves.

I was thinking the same thing about a competitor calling you to cancel. It's brutal out there and some people are desperate for work.

um so tell them that? obviously they don't communicate with each other there, which doesn't sound like a company you should work for anyway.

They probably just called or emailed that they missed the interview. It also is in no way a good way to test how much a job means to someone, shy people will be too scared to argue, others will have anxiety attacks just from the stress and be unable to bring it up in person, some people would be too crushed to argue etc. To be honest, that strategy discriminates against any people that aren't argumental or have anxiety problems or are very shy or often just accept what happens in life as it would be politest to bring it up in person and they would just feel unable to do so, even if it was their dream job. If they want to find out how much it means to the person they are interviewing, they should ASK, not employ a stupid strategy to make them 'prove' themselves worthy of it.

It sucks to be unemployed but this doesn't sound like the "Fortune 500" company you'd want to work for anyway. "Forrest Gump Inc." Good luck in the future, one suggestion: From now on write down the person's name, the day, the date and the time of every phone call you get from a prospective employer. Can't get burned that way!

In my experience, most jobs seem to "discriminate" against those types of people. Of course an employer would want someone who's lively and sociable.

You should be thankful. Imagine working there... I can see the boss being a douche and your schedule would always be wrong, your coworkers would also hate working there, word gets around the water pitcher, you all set the date and time, go to the nearest home depot, buy wood planes and pitch forks, burn and poke the building and go to jail for murdering a person and for burning a building. You're saved!
