Last I checked, 2 years 10 months and 26 days still doesn't add up to 3 years. You would be surprised how common it is for companies to do that.
Actually, as of last August, 2 years 10 months and 26 days was changed to 3 years. 100 seconds was changed to 2 minutes, `leap years happen every 3.5 years, and the numbers 7, 9, 12, and 15 are the same.
Just wait around 4 or 5 days (or 2 in February or 3 in a leap day February) and a month, and reapply then. And pray that another qualified applicant doesn’t bumble upon that opening. - Signed Math Wizard
It would appear they only teach you the super secret and essential corporation information the day before your 3rd year there... xD
They should give you the job with a start date in five weeks after the three years is up. Unless of course they were hoping there'd be another applicant and they're using a technicality to wiggle out of the job offer. I hope they find a way to hire you.
Why don't you talk with HR about it. Maybe see if they can try you out for a month which will then make you 3 year work experience. It also possible they don't realize you already work at the company
