Advertisement or not you're always supposed to check to see what they are offering if that were the case. Sorry op but your dad's a dick, any normal parent would've opened the letter from college or left it for you to see later. I'm sorry that happened to you op.

Same thing happened to me. I just assumed I was accepted and attended. I finished two semesters before I received the trespass warning.
I hate to say this but I recall reading at least a couple of FMLs where someone's parent(s) threw away a college *acceptance* letter for whatever perverse reason--either they didn't want their kid going to college at all, or they felt they couldn't afford the costs of the college he or she had been accepted to, or whatever. :-(
Wow! I guess you're screwed. Better clean off those work boots and mend them coveralls because theres a lot of ditch diggin to do. Or you could call and tell them it got thrown away and ask for another.

Can't you just call then and ask them to resend the letter? That's what I did :)
