Today, I was busy going over wedding plans with my fiancé, when my mother called. Apparently, she wants me to "drop the joke" about this "fake engagement", because she was under the impression I was only dating a white guy to piss her and dad off, and was now getting carried away with it. FML

Self centered people these days. And if she doesn't want to she doesn't have to let it affect her. Live your life the way you want to. If you are old enough to be engaged you are old enough for it not to matter how it will affect her.

Wow, that sucks OP. Not sure if that's better than when I had to FORCE my husband (fiance at the time) to tell his mom we were engaged and she was so upset she had to hang up immediately. Mom's can be super selfish, I totally understand your feelings; best of luck!
