Today, at a public restroom, I caught my extremely eco-friendly daughter, who was on her period, looking through the trash. When I asked why, she said, "Because I'm looking for pads to use. It'll mean less garbage." I then had to lecture her in the public restroom about health and hygiene. FML

You should have another serious talk with her and talk about what other options there are.. There are organic pads, menstrual cups, cloth pads, washable pads etc. All eco-friendky. I hope she will understand that what she is doing isn't the best option and it can seriously damage her health. Best of luck OP!

I'm all about "less garbage", but what your daughter did is just... I don't even have words for. Hopefully you were able to talk some sense into her

get her a moon cup or cloth pads if she wants to be that eco friendly. they're hygienic and healthy compared to standard hygiene products and much more so than that.

ohhh, that's no Good. look into getting her a moon cup or something similar. No trash produced. =] Have a talk with her about what is appropriate to re-use, but please express that you're proud that she is dedicated to producing trash! Also, you might want to ask if she's done that before... if so, you might want to take her to the doctor to do tests for std's just in case.

She's old enough to have her period but not old enough to know that's completely gross?

Reusable cloth pads (sanitary) and menstrual cups. Awesome alternatives for Eco friendly people. :) no waste and only one upfront cost.

if she really wants to make less waste have her use a mentrual cup or they even have cloth reusable pads
