Today, after shoveling one guy's steps, sidewalk, and driveway for two hours straight, I went to ask for my money. He said, "Work is its own reward!" and shut the door in my face. FML

You're missing something--did he ASK you to do the job, or did you just do it yourself, hoping he'd pay you? If it's the former, then he's an ass. But if it's the latter, sorry, but that's the risk you take. You can't ask people to pay for something they may not have wanted. I personally could not afford to pay someone to do something I could do myself--although had it been me, I would have told you to stop as soon as I realized it, to save you the trouble.

If he owns a car, I'd break one of his car's windows. =/

actually, it'd probably be more fitting to just shovel the snow back. and pack it tighter. then go back to the guy and say "yeah, work can be it's own reward". 8D

actually pee on his steps so it freeze and poop in his driveway

To be honest, breaking a car window would be relatively easy to get away with. I'm not encouraging criminal behaviors, but I would be pretty frustrated if I was paid to shovel snow and all I got was a door slammed in front of my face.

put the snow back, then hose it down with some water so that it feezes, making it impossible to remove the ice. Then leave a note on his porch saying 'karma's a bitch' :)

I'd shovel it all back. If he came back out and asked me what I was doing, I tell him "overtime".

I'm just guessing, but I'm pretty sure that they made an agreement BEFORE, because if the OP just went up to some guy's yard and started shoveling then asked for money later, the guy would have said most likely "I didn't ask you to do it, but thanks." instead of "Work is its own reward." OP, get some revenge. Like bust up his car and break a few windows. Or if you wanna be on the safe side, shovel the snow back up in front of his driveway and doors and/or get a hose or whatever with lots of water and put it all over his driveway. I'm from CT, close to NY, but if it's cold in CT, then it must be freezing in NY.

break his car window and then shovel snow into the car. piss on the snow and take a dump, then follow that with hosing it down so it turns to ice!

shovel the snow back.... even if it take two hours probably the next day you will see the guy shoveling the snow and you can tell him "work is its own reward"..... i would do it -.-.

Run in his house yelling LEERROOOYY JENKINS, and get that money.

its obviously cold so i would hose down everything he owns outside just to get a good layer of ice going

you should be payed equally like all others

spend the next 2 hours putting it all back. then place a nail propped up against one of his tires so when he backs up POP!

call the police and tell them that he had you locked in his basement.

Obviously the right thing to do was squirt water into all the key holes and spraying it all over his door. =]

Exactly what I thought, except they could say "Being an asshole is its own punishment."

no, i would spray the front door so that it freezes over and he is besieged by his own front door until he pays OP, the snow/ice melts, or he falls face-first into 3 feet of powder after climbing out of his window.

All I ever find is my driveway...

Damn do what Stewie Griffin would. Slam the shovel on his head, go inside take the money from his wallet and go see his wife too.

Hard work builds character, congrats OP your character probably leveled.

What's the scouter say about his power level?

My Scouter is broken, it tells me it's over 9000 and that is impossible.

holy crap you can't be a super saiyan. impossible!

He wasn't a Super Saiyan at that point. In fact, I'm not even sure the concept had been brought up before.

Critical morality point. Paragon: politely knock again and state that you had already agreed on monetary compensation for work done. Renegade: slash his tires and throw a Molotov cocktail through his window.

cover his walks back over and build some REAL character... he's an ass.

Me too! It would mean even more work, but totally worth it!

you are so right. that woulda been brilliant

Hahahahahaha. I'm so sorry OP, hahahaha. Don't make a fool out of me man. Dont make a fool out of me. I want my money. I want my money.

you deserved it! what happened to doing things out of the goodness of your heart!?!

I am an idiot? Really? And why is that? Because I don't always put myself first and actually help people because I want to?!? If that is an idiot then I am proud to be one.

Haha I would have gladly helped but the person did do it for a reason, and that reason was to gain money, which the guy had said he'd grant at the end, but the fact that his lazy ass didn't give shit to the hard worker, and finding a stupid excuse too, I thought it wasn't right :P He went back on his promise.

do you have a job? this is probably his source of income. try working at your job for free "out of the goodness of your heart" for a month and tell ^me how it goes.

I would "build more character" by "doing more work". An equal amount, putting snow back on his sidewalk and driveway. And dare him to complain to someone in authority over it :-)

he might be able to afford to pay u. the economy isn't the best if you haven't noticed.

then he should have gotten his broke ass out there and shoveled it himself.

Oh, they definitely do exist. A couple kids on my street shoveled my elderly neighbour's driveway without her permission, then after they were finished, asked her for $20, each. This poor lady is too nice, so she payed them, but I know she can't afford it. She complained to my mom the next day. They tried it with a couple other elderly people in the neighbourhood. :/ Scum bags....

That's what I was thinking too, nonynony.
