Today, I got up at 4:30 am, went to my job as the newspaper guy. Nobody was there to open the door, it was raining and I was freezing. I decided to wait, because I really wanted my salary. At 6 o'clock my boss opens the door and says, "Oh, it's you. Well, you're fired. We can't pay you anymore." FML

Today, I got up at 3:15 a.m. to be ready for work at 5 a.m. I get to my work station to find absolutely no work to do. After talking with my boss, I was sent home with no pay. If I'd been employed there 3 weeks longer, I would've been paid for 4 hours. FML
Today, after getting up at 6 a.m., fighting with the dogs to wipe their paws off from the snow, and having to wait for a moving truck to move so I could get to work by 8, I got a call from my boss saying we were closed due to weather. It was 8:15. I was already there. FML
Today, I was in a bad mood after being stuck in traffic for 2 hours and late for work. I was walking to my building when I saw a 100 dollar note flying my way. A man called after me for it, but being selfish I took the note in my pocket as a little reward. That man was my boss. Yes, I'm fired. FML
Today, I was supposed to start my first day of work at my dream job. However, my car had other plans and refused to start. When I called my boss to tell him I was going to be late, he told me not to come in at all and fired me on the spot. FML
Today, I went into work. After three years of working 55 hours a week, they fired me by putting the contents of my locker at the front door, with a note that said "If not picked up by 10:00 am stuff will be donated." I work the night shift. I just lost three sweaters, two pairs of shoes, $60, and my job. FML
Today, wanting to be on time for my first job interview, I woke up at the crack of dawn and walked almost an hour through a thunderstorm. When I arrived, I was told that the manager wasn't in today, because of the bad weather. FML
Today, I showed up to work at 6am, only to find out the schedule was changed. I wasn't actually supposed to be there until 9:15. My boss never told me this. I didn't get to go home either, he just said, "Oh well. Get to work." FML
Today, when I got to work, I found out that I was being laid off. Two hours later, I found out my boss had my name on the wrong list. I was elated. I went to lunch, but on the way back was rear-ended, in the rain. I was an hour and a half late getting back to work. I was fired upon returning. FML
Today, I woke up at 5:30 and made the half hour drive to work only to find out that it was my day off. After finally getting back home and into bed, my boss called, requesting that I come back to work since I was "already up". FML
Today, I woke up, got dressed, drove for an hour, just to find out that I was fired. This is the closest job near me. FML

Delivering newspapers doesn't automatically make you 12 or whatever. Some people actually make a living off of it and it's a damn good one too. I know a woman that made $75,000+ a year doing that job. Oh and Masturbating goats is a real job? No it's what you got stuck with because you aren't qualified for anything else. This guy has a point. I don't care if one lady made 75k doing that job, she is one the exception, not the rule. If you are an adult, get a career. Working shitty hourly jobs for the rest of your life is fine for a housewife so she isn't bored, but if you ever want to make a substantial amount of money you need to drop the paper route and get off minimum wage.

This is 2012, not 1960. Married mothers have careers now, not casual jobs to stop them being bored. And chances are O.P is probably using this job to help pay for tertiary education to get a career, although I'm not assuming this is necessarily the case.

Depending on the place newspaper delivery people can make $100-$200 a night plus gas money. Yes it's bad hours but depending on how quick you do the job and how big the route is it can take less than 3 hours. I know from personal experience considering it was my job when I started college a few years ago. I made good money doing it.
