Today, after dating my girlfriend for a while, I had a realization. She often says things like, "You're my favorite!" and scratches my beard, which I appreciated affectionately. Upon meeting her pets, it dawned on me that I am just another one of her cats. FML

Gah, I am so guilty of this. I like scritching dude's beard when it's long. I don't consider him my pet though, and that kind of makes me cringe. I thought it was just being affectionate, kind of like when he plays with my hair :(

Awww- I'm sorry OP that your specialness was slighted. At least you know she's genuine and truly loves you from the heart. If that's the case- you must be pretty great. You simply have to share her personality and heart, but your company is exquisite.
