Sticking together

Today, I was disowned in my family because of the pandemic, after I refused to quit my job and live at my parents house, with them supporting my family, so now no one in my family has acknowledged my existence since August 2020. FML

OP, I've said and stressed this numerous times, both in real life and in the FML comment section...YOU CHOOSE YOUR FAMILY. Genes, blood relations, and in-laws do not decide who your family is. The spirit, sincerity and bonding with people, whether you're related or not, is the family deciding factor. Love yourself, go out, and find the family you want. Good luck and stay safe.

They disowned you because you want to take care of yourself?

That doesn't sound right to me. How sure are you that you're not a ghost who doesn't know it yet?

I'm just wondering how you were supposed to be able to support them if you quit your job. That makes no sense.

Probably by being their maid. Cooking, cleaning, laundry.

Sounds like they used the pandemic as an opportunity to strip you of your independence and and turn you into their live-in servant, and this is your punishment for not giving in to their manipulation. You did good, they aren't worth it, and like the other poster said: YOU CHOOSE your family. They ain't it. When you find your people you will be treated with kindness, respect, and appreciation - not this crap your bio-folks are pulling.

Be happy they did so family isn't always blood. My family is the same way. I haven't talked to most of them in years
