Today, my boyfriend asked me to marry him by handing me a ring and telling me, "Okay we're engaged now." I should have seen it coming when we started dating, I went to his house one night and as I was leaving he said, "Okay you're my girlfriend now." FML

That's actually pretty funny. I bet he just LOVES talking about his feelings. ;P But honestly OP, I don't think he'd propose unless he really actually loved you. Unless you both have been dating for a number of years and he just doesn't want to break up. In which case, I'd be pretty leery.

that could be a cute way he thought he could do it. like when guys propose and they take the girl through the places they met, their first dates, first kiss spot, and such. Maybe since you became in a relationship like that because he was awkward at the time, he thought it would be a cute way to propose.

Dump him immediately!!! My soon to be ex husband did almost exactly the same thing. After you marry him the amount of effort he will put into the relationship will dramatically decrease. And as he is already putting forth really no effort at all, you are screwed!! I'm just waiting for the dead and zombie part now.
