Today, my mom told me she'd scheduled me for a cleaning with my hometown dentist. When I reminded her that, according to my university's COVID guidelines, students shouldn't leave the county unless there's an emergency, she threw a hissy fit and told me I'm being "combative" and "looking for an excuse to fight." FML

"County", not country. OP is probably still in the same state. With that reference and the context clues available OP is probably only the next county over. Probably less than an hour drive

OP, either your family is outrageously wealthy to expect you go go to another country for a dental checkup or your mom is off her rocker. It’s unfortunate, but the break in people’s routines, the social isolation, and the worries about the pandemic are making some people act strangely. The nutty ones either deny the pandemic or take out their frustrations on the other people in their household - It could be some of both in your Mom’s case. Update: Oops, OP wrote county, not country. That makes more sense. But I stand by my statement that Mom is behaving irrationally and it’s probably due to stress from COVID.

It was a local San Francisco ordinance and the owner lied to her about the permissibility of her hair styling. Hopefully, she won't get her teeth cleaned by Dr. QAnon.
