Milkmaid

Today, when done feeding my newborn, I stated to my husband that I'm a cow. He said, in a sincere tone, "Oh, baby, you'll lose the weight soon." I meant cow because I'm producing so much milk. FML

Ah, I could understand his mistake, double meaning! You said it!!!

I don't see how this is an FML. You have baby weight. Your husband isn't making a huge deal of it. BTW, "cow" is usually synonymous with being overweight. All mammals breastfeed.

You know he might not even think you're fat. A lot of women who jut gave birth complain about the weight gain, so he might just have assumed that's what you meant and tried to be comforting. It doesn't necessarily mean HE thinks you need to lose any weight.

You put yourself up for that one

Agree with #54 So what, you probably have gained some baby weight. Most people do. Not everyone works it off though. It's up to you.

well after having a baby you still have that weight on you and when you said that he apparently thought you were complaining on the weight you gained from the baby. It doesn't mean he thinks you're thick, he was just trying to make you feel better. Instead of saying "Oh honey, you look great" and causing an argument he went with "you'll lose it soon" Nothing to be offended by, it only natural to gain weight while pregant!

Alright, so maybe not "fishing for compliments" but in normal social interaction, when a woman makes such a comment, they have an underlying motive/expectation for the return comment to be a compliment or uplifting. Women don't say things like that just to say them, everyone knows that. There's a reason behind the comment. Either way, her husband responded in a manner that any normally socially funtioning person would expect. It's not an FML. And it's nobody's fault. Things like that happen. Get over it. And #61, yes, I agree, they are gradually getting more pathetic.

lol, when you compare urself with a cow, you dont except ppl's reactions to be positive. it's normal that he thought abt the over-weightness. be more clear next time lol n dont compare something sexual with an animal -escpecially something like a cow, haha :P

lol its normal to be a bit hefty after you have a BABY

Well maybe she should have phrased the statement a little different...cuz I thought the same thing when I read it the first time.

So...yer lactating...and a little chunky....Wanna go out? :D
