Good cause, bad knees

Today, I took part in a charity run for a good cause. I'd trained for months and showed up, only to trip and fall flat on my face at the starting line. I spent the rest of the race with scraped knees and a bruised ego. FML

For what it's worth, the beneficiaries of the charity don't care that you tripped and fell. They care that now they have money to put towards their needs. You still did a good thing here.

As the saying goes, the important is not that you tripped and fell on your face; it is that you stood up and started running again.

Evidently your training was insufficient. Not tripping and falling are must-have skills to succeed in running (and even jogging). I'm sure you can find a track coach who can give you some lessons in not tripping and falling.
